Charging the future with the energy of knowledge!

The first Train-the-Trainer Session for Lecturers within the DAAD MERIT-Ukraine project

On April 23, 2026, the first Train-the-Trainer session titled “Engaging Students with Technology: Innovative Methods and Practical Tips” was held, organized by Leibniz University Hannover within the framework of the DAAD project “MERIT-Ukraine: Mechatronics, Energy, Robotics, and Innovation Technologies with Ukraine.”

The session was delivered by Dipl.-Chem. Sylvia Feil from the Media Didactics Team of the Centre for Quality in Teaching and Learning presented, in an interactive format, an overview of modern approaches to enhancing teaching effectiveness using digital technologies.

Participants were introduced to Leibniz University Hannover's approaches to teaching development, as outlined in the Teaching Constitution. This document defines shared values, principles, and strategic directions for the development of teaching and learning at the university, emphasising competence-oriented education, the active role of students, the development of critical thinking, interdisciplinarity, and the use of innovative pedagogical approaches.

During the seminar, key aspects of organising the modern educational process were discussed, including:
•    principles of effective teaching: self-efficacy, activation of prior knowledge, clear structure and communication, and feedback;
•    the use of active learning methods: one-minute paper, small group work, polls, and interactive tools;
•    the concept of blended learning, including its advantages and challenges in higher education;
•    Challenge-Based Learning as an approach to developing practical competencies and addressing real-world problems;
•    the role of digital platforms and tools in supporting the learning process, including the features of the open-source platform Stud.IP.

Special attention was given to course design, particularly the importance of the syllabus as a tool for structuring the learning process and communicating expectations between lecturers and students.

The seminar provided an effective platform for experience exchange, discussion of modern educational practices, and the development of lecturers’ professional competencies in an international academic environment.
